Phillip Satin Tyko, My Terrific Son, Turns 17 Today.

April 20, 2007 at 2:17 pm (Family & Friends)

It gets better being dad each and every year. Thank you, Diane Satin, you’re a terrific mom!!.

I’ve tried to heed the words of my fellow JB, David Hersh: “Do the best you can and live with the results.”

Here, in pictures, are the results. I wish that my mom, Vivian Tyko, and grandparents, Phil and Rose Niss, were alive to see him.pt11

Happy Birthday, Phillip!!

I remember when Phillip was born, in fact I’m still wearing the same socks (naturally they were cleaned since then).

In the words of Harry Carey, “Holy Cow!”
    Sure makes me feel old.

Btw, David was correct, and you did well Zig. You have many reasons to be a proud Pop.

    Happy Birthday Phil!

Thanks for the nice words, Billy Boy.

  3. Diane Satin said,

Who’s that creepy old guy in the photos with my son?

  4. Ralph Zig Tyko said,

Who’s on first?.. Couldn’t have done it without you, Diane, or I would have. :-)

    Hey JB2,

Terrific pics. I love ya, Ralphie. We sure have made different choices in life. I hope you’re as pleased with yours as I am with mine. Phil is a good lookin’ kid. All I remember of him is seeing him in an incubator and then again when he was about six years old and a pain in the ass.

  6. Ralph Zig Tyko said,

… he remembers you in much the same way, Duv. :-)

It looks like you two are engaging in a little arm wrestling in one photo. I recall the last time I did that with my own kid. He was about 16 or 17 years old. I barely beat him, but it nearly killed me. My arm was sore for weeks, but being a bit of a macho Dad I didn’t dare let him know. I did, however, silently vow NEVER to do that again! They sure grow up fast!

  8. Barbara said,

Ralph, he sure looks a lot like you at that age.

  9. Ralph Zig Tyko said,

I see a lot of his mother’s face, and her beautiful eyes… but certain expressions, mannerisms are unmistakably mine. More importantly, he loves animals, and hates war. I’ve been kvelling about him for 19 years, so why stop now? :-)
