The Yankees in The Zone 5/8/21

May 8, 2021 at 11:09 am (Comfortably Zoned Radio)

Jack Degraw and Robert Deininger discuss the Yankees recent success where they took 2-out-of-3 from the Orioles, a 3-game sweep of the Tigers, and 2-out-of-3 from the Astros (7-3 in their last 10gms) pushing the Yankees over the .500 mark for the first time this season. We also discuss some of the hitters who’ve begun to warm up in the last 10gms, including Aaron Hicks, Gleyber Torres, Gio Urshella, and of course Giancarlo Stanton who’s been on an absolute tear his last 12gms. During Stanton’s 12-game hitting streak, he’s batting over .500 with 6 HR’s and 11 RBI’s, raising his batting average from .158 to .314! We also touch on the Yankees starting rotation, and the impressive performance from Corey Kluber who pitched 8 shutout innings while only giving up 2 hits in his last out, as well as Jordan Montgomery’s continue improvement along with Domingo Germán. The Yankees star rotation has one of the best ERA’s in baseball, and their bullpen has the best ERA in all of baseball. The Yankees pitching has been the reason they’ve been winning, and now their bats are beginning to come around which spells trouble for the rest of the league. We discuss this and a bunch more, including Luke Voit’s future return and Miguel Andujar’s return to the big club.
